Last week Hannah posted the article about the decline of
pubs. One of the reasons as was mentioned
in the article is restaurants and cafes.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/leisure/11084328/Why-coffee-shops-are-replacing-pubs-in-Britain.html
But coffee shops were decided to merge the two British
cultures, coffee and alcohol, you can see how drinking culture is part of the
British life.
It is quite interesting to look for example to the new suggestion
of the Pret a Manager. They decided to sell alcohol and to extend their opening
hours till night.
Another example is Starbucks. They open their new branch at
Covent Garden, where they have a dinner
menu and sell alcohol.
I think this may cause for competition for pubs and in the
future can be the reason to close many pubs.
